1. Who we are
FridgeKind is operated by the developer identified in its Apple App Store and Google Play listings. In this policy, “FridgeKind,” “we,” and “us” refer to that developer.
2. Information we collect
We collect information directly from you when you create an account, enter app content or preferences, capture or choose a photo, request an AI feature, or make a purchase. We also receive limited authentication, subscription, security, and service-operation records.
- Account information, such as your email address, display name, authentication identifiers, and session information.
- Household and preference information, including serving preferences, diets, allergies, disliked ingredients, and meal goals.
- Content you add or create, including inventory, expiration dates, shopping lists, saved recipes, scan history, and recipe requests.
- Fridge, freezer, pantry, or grocery receipt photos you choose to capture or upload. We do not access your camera or photo library unless you grant permission and initiate the action.
- Grocery barcodes you scan and product details returned for them, such as product name, brand, package quantity, category, and product image.
- Purchase status from RevenueCat, Apple, and Google. We do not receive your full payment-card details.
- Technical, security, product-interaction, performance, and crash information needed to operate and improve the service.
We do not send fridge photos, ingredient names, recipe text, email addresses, passwords, or authentication tokens to our analytics provider.
3. How we use information
- Provide login, household synchronization, inventory, reminders, shopping lists, recipes, and subscription features.
- Analyze photos you submit and generate requested recipe suggestions or eligible recipe images.
- Enforce plan limits, restore purchases, prevent abuse, troubleshoot failures, and protect users.
- Understand feature usefulness, improve onboarding and subscription flows, and diagnose crashes.
- Comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Use.
4. AI processing
Before FridgeKind sends personal data to OpenAI for the first time, the app identifies OpenAI, explains the data involved, and asks for your explicit permission. If you decline, no new AI request is sent and manual account, inventory, and shopping features remain available.
Photo analysis sends the fridge, freezer, pantry, or grocery receipt photo you deliberately captured or selected. Recipe generation sends relevant inventory item names and quantities, selected inventory locations, meal filters, and food preferences; it does not resend a scan photo. Optional recipe-image generation sends the recipe title, summary, and relevant ingredients, not your scan photo or account credentials.
OpenAI processes requests through its business API to return the requested result. FridgeKind sends text and photo-analysis requests with API response storage disabled and does not opt in to model training. OpenAI may retain abuse-monitoring logs containing request content for up to 30 days unless longer retention is legally required.
AI results can be incomplete or incorrect. Review ingredients, receipt lines, allergens, freshness, cooking temperatures, and food-safety decisions yourself.
5. Service providers
We share information only as needed to provide FridgeKind, complete transactions, protect the service, or comply with law.
- Supabase for authentication, databases, private storage, and server functions.
- OpenAI for requested photo analysis, recipe generation, and eligible recipe-image generation.
- RevenueCat for subscription entitlement and purchase-status management.
- PostHog for privacy-limited product analytics, reliability, and crash reporting. Session replay is disabled.
- Open Food Facts for barcode product lookup. FridgeKind sends the scanned barcode and receives community-maintained product details that may be incomplete or inaccurate.
- Apple and Google for distribution, selected authentication, purchases, refunds, and subscription management.
- Expo and the device operating system for delivery and device capabilities.
6. Selling, advertising, and tracking
FridgeKind does not sell personal information. The app does not use third-party advertising SDKs or track you across other companies’ apps and websites for advertising. Product analytics are used only to operate and improve FridgeKind.
7. Retention and security
We retain account and app content while your account is active and as reasonably needed to operate the service, resolve disputes, prevent fraud, and meet legal obligations. Account deletion removes associated profile, household, photos, inventory, recipes, and shopping data, subject to records we must retain by law.
We use encrypted connections, access controls, authenticated server functions, private photo storage, database row-level security, and providers with privacy and security commitments. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure.
8. Your choices and rights
- Edit or remove app content using available controls.
- Decline or later withdraw AI data-sharing permission under Account > AI data sharing.
- Disable camera, photo-library, or notification permission in device settings.
- Cancel subscriptions in Apple or Google account settings. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription.
- Request access, correction, export, or deletion through the app’s support option or the support contact in the app-store listing.
9. Children
FridgeKind is not directed to children under 13, or the minimum age required in their country to consent to data processing. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children below that age.
10. International processing
FridgeKind and its providers may process information in countries other than your own. Where required, we rely on appropriate legal safeguards for these transfers.
11. Changes
We may update this policy as FridgeKind changes. We will update the effective date and provide additional notice when required by law.
12. Contact
For privacy questions or requests, use the Support option in FridgeKind or the support contact shown in its Apple App Store or Google Play listing.
